Bethany Broadwell's inner strength
Who/what contributed to your inner strength?
My family, friends and the faith that we are all here to serve a purpose keep me determined to exude my gusto.
When I appreciate the energy everyone has invested in me, it is my mission to reflect their kindness.
When in your life was your inner strength particularly tested and how did you deal with the incident?
Persevering has been my greatest challenge. Leading a life with a progressive disability means constantly adapting to more tests with less endurance. What I have learned from this experience is to dwell on solutions, not setbacks. I have felt diminished to the point of the collapse, but concentrating on efforts and activities I still want to pursue has always restored me enough to strive for the next shimmering star on the horizon.
What suggestions do you have to help people realize their capabilities?
Realize that good results take time. Staying strong means dealing with more than a solitary test; it means facing a series of challenges without crumbling. I try to bask in lighthearted moments because their radiance takes the chill out of despair.
Why is it important to focus on inner strength?
I may have less physical endurance than others on life's journey, but I feel mighty knowing I have just as much heave-ho as the next person to enrich hearts. The fact that my strength is often unseen adds to its impact.
What are your next goals and what positive thoughts or activities keep you striving toward your goals?
My goal is to keep every ounce of my creativity swirling to make maximum use of my momentum. My favorite quote is a line by legendary journalist Nellie Bly: "Energy rightly applied can accomplish anything."
