This Week's Show
“Emmanuel’s Gift” is a film about an orphan with a disability, whose father abandoned him, whose village dismissed him and whose country thought him better off dead. This is the story of
Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah, who had nothing, but gave everything -- and changed a
nation forever.

Those born with a disability in Ghana, West Africa, are likely to be poisoned, or left to
die by their family; if they are not poisoned or left for dead, they’re likely to be hidden
away in a room; and if they’re not hidden, they are destined to spend their lifetime begging
on the streets. Of the twenty million people in Ghana, two million have a disability. This is
the story of one man whose mission -- and purpose -- is to change all that forever. With only one leg, Emmanuel begins his courageous quest with a 600-kilometer bicycle ride across Ghana, spreading his vision of grit and resolve with each turn of the bike’s pedals.
It's a Boy!
Last week, Greg wrote about his friend Michelle Carston and the incredible inner strength it was going to take her to give birth. Her delivery was high-risk, because Michelle has a spinal cord injury at the C-5 level. This week Greg is happy to report Michelle and her husband Peter are the proud parents of Pierce Carston. Baby was born Oct. 25 at 1:59 p.m., weighing 5 pounds, 13 ounces and measuring 19.25 inches. Congratulations to the Carstons!

Greg's family lost everything in the storm. The insurance company is calling the hurricane a flood, and the Smith's did not have flood insurance. If you want to make a donation to a specific Katrina victim, the Ohio nonprofit AME Church that Greg is attending now and has attended in the past with his family has agreed to accept donations for the Smith family. The church will mail tax-deductible receipts back to the donor.
