Get off your BUTS!
Sean Stephenson Most people live their whole lives on their "BUTS." Our "BUTS" are those excuses that hold us back from doing the things we would like to or know we need to do in life. "I would like to get in shape 'BUT' I don't have the time, energy, patience, etc." "Time To Stand" is Sean Stephenson's powerful message which outlines where our "BUTS" come from, why they control us, how to get off of them, and lastly how to encourage others to join us in STANDING. Like me, Sean gets around in a wheelchair and cannot stand literally. He was born with osteogenesis imperfecta, or "brittle bone disease." You'll be captivated listening to Sean Stephenson share his unique insights. What are the BUTS that are limiting you?

Greg Nominated for Spinal Cord Injury Hall of Fame
I’m proud to announce that I’ve been nominated for induction to the Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Hall of Fame™. Formed by the National Spinal Cord Injury Association (NSCIA) in 2005, the SCI Hall of Fame was created to celebrate and honor individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to quality of life and advancements toward a better future for all individuals with spinal cord injury. 2006 SCI Hall of Fame inductees will be announced at the second annual SCI Hall of Fame™ induction ceremony at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on the evening of Oct. 30. The ceremony is being held in conjunction with the second Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Summit™, Oct. 29 – Nov. 1, 2006, at the Hyatt Regency in Bethesda, Md. For more information about the National Spinal Cord Injury Association, visit http://www.spinalcord.org.

To Cleveland for Rehab and Rock & Roll
Friday morning, I’ll be speaking to the Ohio Rehabilitation Association (ORA) at their annual conference. ORA is a member organization, whose mission is to provide opportunities for rehabilitation professionals, and others in the fields of rehabilitation, through knowledge and diversity. While in town, we will definitely be hitting the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Winner and a Movie: Let's Make a Date
If your school, business, association or organization is planning an event and you need a guaranteed winner on the speaking platform, call me at (877) 331-7563. You can also schedule a public screening of the award winning PBS documentary film “On A Roll: Family, Disability and the American Dream.” Filmmaker Joanne Caputo and I have been presenting the film and are finding a warm reception, especially on college campuses.

2005-06 CAMPUS FEEDBACK:
"This event was truly one of the most moving and inspiring experiences I've had in my 16 years at the university. I've been teaching about "diversity" topics for many years, and this film demonstrates, in a uniquely compelling way, how race, gender, disability, and class issues interact. Every university student, faculty and staff member must see this film!"
Kelli Zaytoun, Ph.D
Director, Women's Studies Assistant Professor, English
Wright State University

"In my view, "On A Roll" provides for a superb educational experience. I am the chair of the American Sociological Society's annual meeting...and I will request a screening to inform its 7000 attendees about its usefulness, particularly in classrooms."
Steven Dandaneau, Ph.D
Director, University Honors Program
University of Dayton

"In my opinion, this film needs to be seen on every college campus. There seems to be a wider range of students now able to go to college and this has begun to broaden our vision that the world, indeed, needs all kinds of minds/bodies/personalities to thrive..."
Erin Salva, Director
Disability Services
Kenyon College

"Overwhelmingly well received by those who attended. I would encourage college students to see this film...a clear and concise view of how far we've come, but how far we have yet to go."
Jon Purple, Ph.D
Student Life Office
Cedarville University

"The video and speakers were honest and open and helped me understand the issues of disability more fully."
"More useful than literature review."
"I appreciated the open discussion related to sexuality."
"Immensely helpful."
"The movie touched me deeply."
"Awesome!"
Ph.D Students School of Professional Psychology, WSU Dayton, OH

The Extra Point!
There are risks and costs to a program of action. But they are far less than the long-range risks and costs of comfortable inaction.
