Paralyzed and Pregnant
Michelle Carston holding her baby boy, Pierce. Determination is a common characteristic of those with inner strength. Despite becoming a quadriplegic in a diving accident at age 23, Michelle Carston, a longtime friend of The Strength Coach, never gave up on her dreams. On this week's show, she'll give us a review of a documentary about the birth of her son Pierce seven months ago. "Paralyzed and Pregnant" will air three more times on the Discovery Health Channel. Set your calendar or DVR for June 17 at 3 p.m., June 25 at 9 p.m., or June 26 at midnight, all times Eastern.

The hour-long documentary exposes her experience of having a spinal cord injury and bringing a baby into the world. On this week's show, Greg will talk to Michelle and learn more about what drives this unstoppable woman. Don't miss The Strength Coach program. You can also catch Michelle on the Paula Zahn Now show on CNN, Monday night at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.

The Not-So-Friendly Skies
Every time I fly, my power wheelchair gets damaged. Every time!! It doesn't really matter which airline. They are all at fault.

I wish to issue a challenge and a public invitation for any CEO of any major airline to accompany me on a flight. See for yourself what it is like to try to explain to ground crews how best to accommodate your power chair. See for yourself how they refuse to listen. See for yourself what it is like to arrive at your destination and find that your only means of mobility no longer functions. You'll learn that airports have no relationships with local durable medical equipment businesses so that they can give some local direction in the "off chance" that somebody's chair might get damaged. You'll discover how your only recourse is to file a claim and wait three weeks for reimbursement after your chair has been repaired out of your pocket.

If I could identify just one airline that will listen and make a better effort to ensure the safety of my power chair and provide options and accommodations in case something does go wrong, I'd fly them exclusively and promote them extensively. Letters are being sent to Continental, Delta, United, US Airways, America West and Southwest. I'll keep you posted on the response.

"Every parent of every child with a disability should read this book to feel everlasting hope and optimism."
On A Roll book cover -- Karen, Tampa, Fla.

The first 2,500 copies of my book, "On A Roll: Reflections from America's Wheelchair Dude with the Winning Attitude" are gone! The second shipment just arrived. It is very rewarding to hear from people who have read the book and have great things to say. People from all walks of life have written to me in response. I'm getting a lot of feedback from parents who have young children with disabilities and from professionals in the rehabilitation field. And, needless to say, people with disabilities find it entertaining and relevant. Get your copy online today for yourself or for a friend.
