Hey, Oprah!

Recently, Karen Abernathy of
Biloxi's WLOX-TV did an outstanding feature on Greg Smith. The final sound bite she used was
Greg saying "I don't want to just be on Oprah or be on Larry King. I want to BE Oprah. I want
to BE Larry King." After the report, WLOX Anchor Rebecca Powers looked directly into the
camera and said, "We're gonna contact Oprah for you, Greg! We'll hook you up!" Yesterday, Greg
delivered the winning package to Rebecca, and look who happened to be on television in the
background at the time. It was a Kodak moment!

Understand: "Million Dollar BS!"
Clint Eastwood's Oscar-winning film terrified moviegoers across America about the possibility
that they could become disabled, and left them thinking that life with a high level spinal cord
injury isn't worth living. Our guests on this week's show have something to say!
- John Kelly, a "happy quad" with the same spinal cord injury as Maggie in the film.
- Jay Forry, America's only blind movie critic
- Steve Drake, disability activist from the group "Not Dead Yet!"
I just saw the movie Monday night. It was a great film, until the end. I left the theatre angry
but excited about the fact that through our work here, things are about to change in the
entertainment media.
