PBS Launches Web Site for
Feb 15. "On A Roll" Documentary
PBS has launched the companion
Web site for the documentary film "On A Roll: Family, Disability and the American Dream." The
site can be accessed at http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/onaroll/index.html. It features a
summary of the film, information about the Americans with Disabilities Act, a bio of filmmaker
Joanne Caputo, an interview with Caputo, a preview clip and a schedule of stations and
broadcast times. A special section also explains the concept and history of the Independent
Living Movement. Check it out! "On A Roll: Family, Disability and the American Dream"
debuts Tuesday, Feb. 15 in most markets nationwide. Check your local listings for broadcast
times.
Premiere Party at the Beau Rivage!
The Smith family and 150 of their friends will share hors d'oeuvres, drinks and an exclusive
live viewing of the film on two giant screen televisions at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in
Biloxi, Miss., Feb. 15 from 7:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. Our guest of honor is Ms. Wheelchair

This week's show - Independent Filmmaker Joanne Caputo!
ON A ROLL is writer/director Joanne Caputo’s first
documentary following her acclaimed 1994 children’s video, BALLERINA, BALLERINA. A magna cum
laude graduate from the University of Pittsburgh (‘76, ‘81), Caputo taught school in inner-city
communities before transitioning to television production, at which she has worked for the past
20 years. Married and the mother of two teenage sons, Caputo is a recent breast cancer survivor
with several documentaries in progress; she has also authored two non-fiction book manuscripts
about enslaved African American mother, Margaret Garner. Joanne and Greg have become close
friends through the six year process of film production. She has traveled with him as far as
Sapporo, Japan, capturing hours of video and a new perspective about disability and human
potential. Meet Joanne Caputo on "The Strength Coach with Greg Smith."
