Acclaimed Hollywood producer, author and motivational speaker,
Larry Thompson has managed the careers of more than 200 stars. His book serves as the catalyst
for an organization Thompson founded whereby successful stars use their power of celebrity to
uplift and motivate others to become stars in their own lives.
Who/what contributed to your inner strength?
A loving mother, father, and family was the foundation. An inner passion to be an accomplished
and respected person was the energy. And, my belief in God was and remains my compass.
When in your life was your inner strength particularly tested and how did you deal with the incident?
In 1983 I went through a divorce, business breakup and career change all at the same time. My
Hollywood therapist called it "a psychological implosion." In Mississippi, where I'm from,
they call it a "nervous breakdown." My choices were right, but living with them was painful.
It took all of the foundation, energy and compass I refer to above to endure and grow stronger
from the experience.
What suggestions do you have to help people realize their capabilities?
In my book, "SHINE: A Powerful 4-Step Plan For Becoming A Star In Anything You Do," I reveal the
four essential and attainable elements that are necessary to become a Star:
TALENT, RAGE, TEAM and LUCK.
* Identify Your Talent: Stars must unlock their natural born gifts,
whether it is a love for working with children, a discerning eye for taking photos, the
sensibilities for managing people, or the skills for developing a new business…and then match
them with their opportunities.
* Summon Your Rage: Stars have an absolute, tunnel vision, maniacal focus
on fulfillment and success.
* Assemble A Team: Every Star has a Team of supporters including: mentors,
professionals, role models, motivators and reality checkers.
* Learn To Be Lucky: Stars must create the elements of Luck they can
control, and identify and act quickly on those rare "chance occurrences" they cannot.
Why is it important to focus on inner strength?
Because, from it all things are possible, including bliss.
What are your next goals and what positive thoughts or activities keep you striving toward your goals?
My wife, Kelly, gave birth to our son, Trevor, this week. We also have a 2 1/2-year-old little
girl, Taylor. They alone make me get up every morning with a smile and purpose. At
www.ProjectRiseandShine.com, my vision and mission to inspire others to SHINE and reach their
full potential is available for all to grow.
